148. Playa - Cheers To You (1998)

Another graduate from Devante's 'bassment', Playa didn't really receive the recognition they deserved upon the release of their first (and only) album in 1998. This album has all the trademarks expected from an album with input from Timbo/Missy but adds another level with Playa's very distinctive vocal sound. Its a laid back type of album with the standout tracks tending to be the ballads. Not all the songs on here are great and ironically its the Timbaland produced tracks end up sounding a bit predictable and commercial. Favourites include 'Together', 'Cheers 2 U', 'Push' and 'I-65'.

194. Nicole (Wray) - Make It Hot (1998)

A nice little album here by Missy Elliott. Oh wait sorry, this is Nicole's album. My mistake. Honestly this album by Nicole could have had anyone singing the lyrics and I would have liked it. Its all about that Missy/Timbaland combo for me. This isn't their greatest effort by a long shot but it still has all the quirks and idiosyncrasies you would expect to hear. Nicole does a serviceable enough job, but you can thank Missy and Timbo for this album making into the Top 200.
