166. Mya - Mya (1998)

Being able to sing is always great but if you have some crappy production behind you, you are always going to struggle to sell albums. Luckily for Mya (and us), an all-star cast showed up to produce her first self-titled album.

'Movin On', 'Keep on Lovin Me' are cool up tempo jams while 'Its all About Me' and 'If you were Mine' hold it down on the softer side of things. I'm not going to pretend this is a classic but its good for a listen or two so check it out.

Exactly, a listen or two...

I mean when she dropped she came out with that one song with Sisqo "all about me". Then dropped another hit "Movin on" and then that slow cut they turned into a video with Silkk the shocker as well.....she was one of them soft voices that came out during her time....

she is strugglin right now trying to get her album out currently.....

I have an album from last year (2007) called 'Liberation', has that not been officially released David?

From the nfo:

"Production comes from Scott Storch, J. R. Rotem, Bryan Michael Cox, Kwame, and Tricky Stewart. Appearances include Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, and Charli Baltimore."

Briam Michael Cox and Tricky Stewart on production sounds good to me!

Officially, it has not been released here in the U.S. as far as I know, but yeah I have it as well.

To me, the secret weapon for this first mya album, was the production from daryl pearson, who was very close to devante swing in da bassment days...
